Hexa Scale's forward-deployed AI builder — the person who turns the firm's and the portfolio's AI ambitions into shipped agents, working workflows, and team-wide AI fluency.

🧭 WHY THIS ROLE EXISTS

The Managing Partner and Operating Partner own investment selection, value-creation plans, and the strategic transformation conversations with portfolio CEOs. What we are missing is a dedicated builder and enabler who:

• Ships the internal AI tooling that makes Hexa Scale move faster than any other PE firm in Europe.
• Embeds with portfolio companies to actually build the first agents and AI workflows — not just advise on them.
• Is hands-on enough to teach the deal team, the operating team, and portfolio operators how to use AI in their daily work.

• Think Forward-Deployed Engineer with an AI specialty and the maturity to operate independently in front of executives — but without yet owning IC-level strategic calls.
• 🔑 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. BE HEXA SCALE'S IN-HOUSE AI BUILDER (INTERNAL ENABLEMENT)

• Build and maintain internal agents and scripts that compress repetitive work for the deal, operating, and finance teams.
• Own the rollout of our internal AI stack (LLM tools, agent frameworks, knowledge base, evals).
• Run regular "AI clinics" and short workshops to lift daily AI fluency across the team.

1. PRODUCTIONIZE THE AI LAYER OF OUR INVESTMENT PLATFORM

Working under the direction of the MP and OP, build and ship

• Market intelligence agents tracking signals across European vertical SaaS sub-segments.
• Sourcing & pipeline agents that enrich and prioritize targets.
• DD support tools: data-room ingestion, customer-call analysis, KPI extraction, AI-readiness checks.
• Reporting automation for portfolio monitoring and LP communications.

1. SUPPORT INVESTMENT EVALUATION (ASSIST, DON'T LEAD)

• Provide the technical AI lens during DD: tech & product audit, AI-readiness scoring, data-asset evaluation, agentic opportunity sketches.
• Surface findings as structured inputs to the deal lead and the IC memo — strategic decisions stay with the MP / OP.

1. FORWARD-DEPLOYED AI ENGINEER FOR PORTFOLIO COMPANIES

• Embed with portfolio companies in short sprints (typically 2–8 weeks) to build the first AI use cases: ship the first agent, integrate the orchestration layer, set up evals, get something into production.
• Train internal counterparts so the work scales after the sprint ends.
• Capture reusable components and playbooks for the next portfolio company.
• This means regular travel to portfolio companies across France and Europe — expect to be on-site for a significant part of your time.

👤 WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• 4–6 years of experience as an applied AI/ML engineer, Forward-Deployed Engineer, founding engineer, or applied AI consultant.
• Has shipped multiple LLM-powered or agentic products in production — comfortable with LLM tooling, RAG, evals, and integrating into messy enterprise codebases and data.
• Builder mindset and high tempo: loves shipping, ships fast, iterates faster.
• Comfortable parachuting into an unfamiliar codebase, vertical, or company and getting traction in days, not months.
• Strong communicator; can teach AI to non-technical executives and operators.
• Business-literate — cares about ROI and adoption, not just elegance — but not aspiring to be a deal partner.
• English fluent; French is a strong plus.
• Genuinely excited about travel — this role isn't remote-first. You'll be on the ground with portfolio teams across France and Europe on a regular basis.

NICE-TO-HAVES

• Background in vertical SaaS, B2B SMB software, or developer tools.
• Experience designing agent orchestration, RAG over messy enterprise data, or AI evals/observability.
• Prior FDE or applied AI consulting role with regular C-level exposure.
• Comfort working across multiple European geographies and languages.

• Several production-grade internal agents owned by Hexa Scale across sourcing, DD, and reporting.
• Every Hexa Scale team member is measurably faster in their core workflows thanks to internal AI tooling and coaching.
• Every active DD has a structured AI-lens analysis delivered by this role.
• At least one portfolio company has launched a first AI agent in production with this role on the build, and a local team trained to extend it.
• A growing library of reusable AI components and playbooks is being shared across the portfolio.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU

• Package: €72K to €85K gross/year (base salary of €60K–€71K + 20% annual profit sharing)
