About The Role
The Maintenance Mechanic I repairs and maintains plant machinery, equipment, structures, tools and facilities as needed to meet production needs in a safe, reliable, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner.
Gather and analyze information skillfully and with alternate solutions in mind when necessary. Perform all tasks in a safe manner. Be a role model and advocate for safety among co-workers. Perform all tasks in an environmentally responsible manner. Perform preventive and predictive maintenance tasks as assigned. Perform general maintenance tasks as assigned by supervisor. Complete routine paper and/or computer work (work orders, work hours, parts, etc.). Uses typical mechanic's tools, equipment, and inspection gauges. Works from drawings, verbal instructions or sketches, and IFS work order systems. Uses shop math on a routine basis. Cleans debris and lubricant from parts, work area and equipment. Operates production equipment as required. Functions as mechanic's helper when assigned to work with senior mechanics. Clean parts, tools and working area. Work overtime as needed. Work on-call as required. Additional duties as assigned.
High school diploma or GED required. Three to five years of experience as a maintenance mechanic, preferably in a manufacturing setting. High level of safety and quality. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, work outdoors in all seasons, climb stairs and ladders, work from elevated platforms, and use hand tools (shovel, hammer, wrenches, etc.). Good problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail. Demonstrate the ability to adapt to changes in the work environment. Understanding of the purpose and function of basic mechanical tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, pneumatic and power tools, pry bars, impact tools, pliers, etc.). Basic computer skills (entering work hours, work orders, parts usage, etc.). Knowledge of Mine Safety and Health (MSHA) preferred. Ability to comply with all corporate policies and MSHA regulations. Forklift experience preferred. Man lift and scissor lift experience preferred. Computer software experience preferred. Warehouse experience preferred. Possess an excellent safety record. Consistently at work and on time. Ability to meet schedules and deadlines. Ability to work varying shifts. Ability to work on-call as required. Valid driver’s license.
