ATLANTICARE _____________________________________________ROLE DESCRIPTION POSITION SUMMARY The Electroneurodiagnostic Technician performs EEGs in a manner that meets or exceeds the minimum requirements set forth by the American Society of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists. EEG studies are performed according to hospital and department procedures in the outpatient laboratory, and at the bedside of admitted patients, including those critically ill patients in intensive care units. The Electroneurodiagnostic Technician maintains equipment per respective policies and reports any malfunctions to the Bio-Medical Services department. This position delivers care in a prompt and professional manner, always maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and respect. The Electroneurodiagnostic Technician works as part of the care team to meet the needs of the patients and physicians to ensure excellent clinical outcomes and supports departmental objectives. In addition, the Electroneurodiagnostic Technician assists the department director in maintaining all policies related to the EEG clinical area. The Electroneurodiagnostic Technician may provide assistance in the training of Electroneurodiagnostic staff and provides appropriate feedback to the department director. The Electroneurodiagnostic Technician acts as a liaison and seeks input from the department of neurology. The Electroneurodiagnostic Technician and actively participates in continuous quality improvement process relative to the diagnostic testing. This position performs according to established departmental procedures. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent required. LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: BLS required. Registry by American Society of Electroneurodiagnostic Technologists preferred. Graduate of an accredited preferred. EXPERIENCE: 1-2 years’ experience in the field of EEG preferred. The Electroneurodiagnostic Technician performs specific testing based on the standards set forth of by the National Society of Neurodiagnostics. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire. Electroneurodiagnostic Technician Page 2 PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position. WORK ENVIRONMENT Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injury. This position requires standing and walking a majority of the time. This position requires the ability to push and pull patients that are moderately heavy to heavy on equipment on wheels a majority of the time. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP This position reports to the Cardiac Diagnostic leadership.
