About The Role

The Ultrasound Tech (non-reg) works under the supervision of the Director, Associate Director, Radiology Manager, and Lead Technologist in Radiology to provide the technical knowledge and expertise to safely and accurately perform ultrasound scans, vascular lab procedures and other related procedures as requested.

Interpret a provider's instructions. Screen patients for safety. Explain procedures to patients. Prepare patients for procedures. Select imaging parameters when adjusting an ultrasound machine. View images from an imaging session and keep records of the results. Review and complete patient exam and charges within the radiology information system. Performs other duties as assigned. Other duties as assigned Education Satisfactory completion or in process of completing an approved Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program which includes general ultrasound and vascular as well as OB. - Required Work Experience Licenses and Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required Upon Hire Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - Registry obtained within 6 months post graduation from a diagnostic medical sonographer program. - Required Upon Hire Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - or another professional medical licensure - Preferred Upon Hire Travel Requirements Must be able to travel between various system facilities and off-site locations as needed. - Required

Skills and Abilities Essential Technical/Motor Skills Inputting data, calibrating equipment, answering telephone, speaking clearly, manipulating small items, fine motor skills, knowledge of body mechanics and CPR. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Interpersonal Skills Effective communication skills and ability to interact with patients, staff, visitors, physicians, etc. Must work well as a team member. Essential Physical Requirements Walking, pushing, pulling, lifting 35 lbs., and restraining, moving equipment, standing, kneeling. Essential Mental Abilities Interpret data, manipulate numbers, calculate, explain, adaptability. Essential Sensory Requirements Visual skills, hear, distinguish color. Exposure to Hazards Radiation, body fluids, needle sticks, hazardous materials. Other Skills and Abilities Caregiver must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in providing appropriate care for patients in the following age group(s): Geriatric, Adult, Young Adult, Pediatric and Neonatal.
