ABOUT THE ROLE The CNC Machining Academy is a 3-week intensive, specialized program designed for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) high school students who will be entering 10th-12th grade in the Fall of 2026, or who are graduating in the Spring of 2026. By merging technical precision with an accessible learning environment, the CNC Machining Academy is designed to: Close academic gaps by applying core mathematical and scientific concepts to real-world fabrication. Strengthen ASL and English literacy through immersive, technical instruction and specialized terminology. Cultivate college and career readiness by developing leadership, precision, and professional stamina. Expand career horizons through direct exposure to high-demand pathways in advanced manufacturing and engineering. ABOUT YOU You will play a vital role in bridging the gap between student potential and academic achievement. You are a data-driven educator or specialist who excels at identifying individual student needs and translating those insights into an accessible, high-impact learning experience. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Possess a valid teaching certificate. Minimum of 3 years experience in Deaf Education. Possess a sign language proficiency level of INTERMEDIATE PLUS according to the AIDB evaluation system. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Five (5) or more years of experience instructing DHH students in STEM, Manufacturing, or Engineering disciplines. Industry certifications (e.g., NIMS, MSSC) with prior CNC operator experience. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Develop and utilize specialized instructional strategies and digital fabrication tools (CAD/CAM software) tailored to the visual learning styles of DHH students. Bridge the gap between classroom theory and shop-floor practice. Provide rigorous on-site supervision of the CNC lab to ensure a safe, inclusive, and OSHA-compliant learning environment. Effectively direct and mentor teacher aides as assigned by the NRSC Director and Special Projects Regional Engagement Coordinator. Serve as a professional role model, demonstrating the communication standards and conduct expected in high-level engineering and manufacturing environments. Support the implementation of industry-focused field trips and networking activities to connect students with professional CNC pathways. Maintain expert-level competency in CNC control software, online courseware, and emerging manufacturing technologies. Ensure all interactions are professionally accessible, fostering an environment of total linguistic access for all DHH participants. Other duties as assigned.
