ABOUT THIS POSITION: This position is for working as a substitute teacher for the RISE Together Preschool and Short-Term Programs departments located on AIDB North in Decatur, Alabama. This position will assist with summer and school-year courses. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS : High school diploma or GED. Alabama Teaching Certificate or Alabama Substitute License. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Experience working with children with disabilities. Experience in an educational or childcare setting. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES : Performs duties in the absence of full-time AIDB staff as required for the position, including, but not limited to, the following: Assumes responsibility for instructing classes when a teacher is absent. Assumes responsibility for overseeing student behavior during instructional periods, lunch, and other activities. Must adhere to confidentiality requirements. Must be able to handle emergency situations in a calm manner. Must be able to physically assist students in wheelchairs and/or students with physical disabilities as their needs dictate, including the ability to lift fifty (50) pounds.
