Position: Substitute Teacher – RISE Together Preschool and Short-Term Programs AIDB North Campus, Decatur Work Schedule - As Needed, Not to Exceed 19 Hours a Week ABOUT ALABAMA INSTITUTE FOR DEAF AND BLIND (AIDB) Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB) is the world’s most comprehensive education, rehabilitation, and service program serving individuals of all ages who are Deaf, Blind, Deaf Blind, multidisabled, and their families. ABOUT THIS POSITION: This position is for working as a substitute teacher for the RISE Together Preschool and Short-Term Programs departments located on AIDB North in Decatur, Alabama. This position will assist with summer and school-year courses. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS : High school diploma or GED. Alabama Teaching Certificate or Alabama Substitute License. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Experience working with children with disabilities. Experience in an educational or childcare setting. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES : Performs duties in the absence of full-time AIDB staff as required for the position, including, but not limited to, the following: Assumes responsibility for instructing classes when a teacher is absent. Assumes responsibility for overseeing student behavior during instructional periods, lunch, and other activities. Must adhere to confidentiality requirements. Must be able to handle emergency situations in a calm manner. Must be able to physically assist students in wheelchairs and/or students with physical disabilities as their needs dictate, including the ability to lift fifty (50) pounds. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Upon being offered employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB ." SALARY : $12.24 Alabama Substitute License $20.40 Alabama Teacher Certification or AIDB Retired Teacher with a Substitute License Direct deposit is required.
