About The Role

Serves as a clinical nurse leader for a defined program or area of nursing practice. Utilizes specialized knowledge and advanced clinical skills across key focus areas, including patient and family care, nursing practice, and organizational or system-level improvement. Partners with the nurse manager to support and advance clinical practice within the assigned area. This role represents the journey-level position for an advanced practice Clinical Nurse Specialist.

Required Qualifications Minimum of two (2) years of recent clinical RN experience in a relevant specialty area Flexibility to orient and work across all UCSF Medical Center locations In-depth knowledge of one or more clinical specialty areas, including diagnoses, treatments, standards of practice, and patient/family education resources Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex issues and develop effective solutions Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex and/or sensitive information clearly and concisely Advanced interpersonal skills, including the ability to educate, train, and provide direction to nursing staff and build effective relationships with patients, families, staff, and external partners Bachelor’s degree or Master’s entry-level degree in Nursing from an accredited program Licensure and Certifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program Certified Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) or licensure/certification in an advanced practice nursing discipline (e.g., Nurse Practitioner)
