About The Role

Mechanical Reliability Engineer Valliant Mill Salary Range ($89,000-$118,600)-Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills, and abilities, will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range. Variable pay may provide additional opportunities for financial awards. This job is eligible to participate in IP’s short–term incentive plan. The Mechanical Reliability Engineer reports to the Mechanical Reliability Engineering Manager at the Valliant Mill. The Valliant mill is a 5,000+ ton per day containerboard mill with 3 paper machines, 3 continuous digesters, 3 secondary fiber plants and a utilities/chemical recovery complex. It currently operates with over 400+ mill employees, 170+ contract maintenance employees, and 150+ other contractors in a results-oriented environment. Responsibilities (include but are not limited to): Improve maintenance strategies/efficiencies, and overall equipment reliability, through the use of RCM and IP GMS methodologies. Assist Mill Teams with the implementation and sustaining of Reliability systems. Improve Reliability of equipment in area through execution of Action Items from Preventable Chronic Failures (PCF's), RCFA's, and Constrained Area Down Time (CADT) events Develop, execute, and sustain Reliability Deliberate Improvement Projects Schedule and coordinate outage related efforts and start-up of equipment in area Plan and execute inspection/repairs of tanks, pressure vessels, and rotating equipment Assist Capital Team with development and implementation of Capital projects in area Lead and participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to ensure the root causes are identified and corrective actions are put in place to prevent reoccurrence Develop and continuously refine asset maintenance strategies to prevent equipment failures and eliminate unscheduled equipment downtime Audit execution of Equipment Care (EC) systems to ensure compliance and provide mechanism to "Check and Adjust" Lead Predictive Maintenance (PdM) activities in designated area as a PdM advocate Be accountable for ensuring that PdM program for area is adequately integrated with Operations and sustainable Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering 3-5 years of work experience Certifications/endorsements for tank and pressure vessel inspection a plus Possess good skills in written and oral communication, problem-solving, time management, and conflict resolution. Strong computer knowledge and skills that include experience with spreadsheets, word processing, and computer-aided drafting (AutoCAD, INVENTOR, Finite Element Analysis, P&IDs, etc). Ability to excel with minimal supervision in a team environment. Willing to work weekend duty on a rotating basis. Willing to work overtime or odd hours as required to meet goals, support operations during abnormal conditions, or to correct malfunctioning control systems or strategies.
