Gord Davenport Automotive Inc., operating as DAVENPORTS AUTO PARTS, is an independently owned and operated supplier of auto parts, supplies, tools, and equipment serving both the professional and consumer markets. Gord Davenport Automotive Inc. was founded in 1972 by Gord Davenport. Today, DAVENPORTS AUTO PARTS operates as an independent CARQUEST member with the head office in Orangeville, and branches in Bradford, Shelburne, and Alliston, and remains a successful family owned and operated business in its third generation.

We are looking to add a Parts Counter Person to our Orangeville location. This job requires this individual to have a desire to solve problems and find solutions to meet client needs, while providing excellent customer service. This individual will work closely with other members of the team serving commercial clients and retail walk-in alike both on the phone and in person using electronic point of sale cataloguing.

Parts Counter Person

The Responsibilities

  • Plays an active role in the inside sales and customer service operations
  • Communicates with customers on the phone and in person
  • Listens to customers and asks questions to ensure their needs are being met
  • Builds rapport and strong buying relationships with customers by demonstrating friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging communication
  • Manages and balances own till daily
  • Assists in maintaining the showroom appearance is organized, clean and presentable to customers
  • Handles customer concerns promptly, professionally, and efficiently
  • Researches products to maximize understanding of key features and benefits
  • Completes the monthly training modules when assigned
  • Assists with shipping, receiving and delivery of product when necessary

The Skills and Qualifications

An in-depth understanding of automotive parts and systems is required

Possess a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle

Must be flexible and available to travel to and work from other locations on an as-needed basis

Familiar with use of computers and electronic catalogues

Excellent interpersonal, communication and telephone etiquette skills

Problem solving attitude

The ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task

Desire to work cohesively as a team

Desire to learn and grow with the company

Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Must be able to work on your feet up to 8 hours per day; walking, standing and climbing of ladders required

Able to work flexible hours, including Saturdays

Hours: We are open Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You will also be required to work alternating Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
