Maintenance Technician II – HVAC Job Description

Piramal Pharma Solutions is seeking a Maintenance Technician II – HVAC to support facility operations at the Sellersville site. This position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation activities on commercial and industrial HVAC systems, building utilities, and facility equipment supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.

The successful candidate will have hands-on experience supporting HVAC and refrigeration systems within an industrial manufacturing environment and will assist with general plant maintenance activities required in a regulated facility. The role requires adherence to GMP, FDA, OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards. Piramal Pharma Solutions is seeking a Maintenance Technician II – HVAC to support facility operations at the Sellersville site. This position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation activities on commercial and industrial HVAC systems, building utilities, and facility equipment supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

HVAC & Refrigeration Systems

  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and industrial HVAC systems.
  • Maintain Air Handling Units (AHUs), Rooftop Units (RTUs), exhaust systems, chillers, refrigeration systems, freezers, and associated equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair compressors, condenser fan motors, evaporator coils, blower assemblies, expansion valves, VFDs, HVAC controls, and related components.
  • Recover, charge, and handle refrigerants in accordance with EPA regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and repair refrigerant leaks.
  • Perform filter, belt, bearing, motor, and component replacements.
  • Support Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS) and HVAC control systems.

Utilities & Equipment Maintenance

  • Support operation and maintenance of:
  • HVAC systems
  • Compressed air systems
  • Chilled water and glycol systems
  • Steam and condensate systems
  • Water distribution systems
  • Refrigeration equipment
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems and control circuits associated with facility utilities and equipment.
  • Perform maintenance on motors, pumps, valves, and related facility support equipment.
  • Assist with equipment installation and modification projects.

Preventive Maintenance

  • Execute preventive maintenance activities through the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Complete work orders accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist in maintaining equipment reliability and minimizing downtime.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to facility systems and maintenance practices.

General Facility Maintenance

  • Perform general building and grounds maintenance as required.
  • Support repairs involving facility infrastructure, mechanical systems, and equipment.
  • Coordinate with external contractors during maintenance and repair activities.

Compliance & Safety

  • Follow all applicable FDA, GMP, OSHA, environmental, and company requirements.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and records.
  • Adhere to site safety procedures and permit requirements.
  • Participate in investigations, CAPAs, and corrective maintenance activities as needed.

Education & Experience

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Technical training or certification in HVAC/Refrigeration, Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of commercial and/or industrial HVAC maintenance experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience supporting industrial manufacturing operations.
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and repairing commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and facility utility systems.
  • Experience working with electrical systems up to 480V, including motors, motor controls, and control circuits.
  • Experience maintaining commercial and industrial equipment including AHUs, RTUs, chillers, refrigeration systems, and associated controls.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.

Preferred

  • Experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, chemical, food, or other GMP-regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience supporting FDA-regulated facilities.
  • Experience using CMMS systems and Building Management Systems (BMS/BAS).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of commercial and industrial HVAC systems, refrigeration systems, and controls.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems up to 480V.
  • Familiarity with steam, condensate, chilled water, glycol, and compressed air systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and respond to equipment emergencies.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
