Position Overview
Own design, integration, and early validation of new mechanical hardware for large autonomous vehicles.
Key Responsibilities

- Design, prototype, and validate mechanical systems and components for autonomous trucking platforms
- -
- Create detailed CAD models and engineering drawings for fabrication and assembly
- -
- Work hands-on in the shop to build, modify, and test hardware
- -
- Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, software, and systems engineers
- -
- Support integration of sensors, compute hardware, and vehicle subsystems
- -
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement design improvements
- -
- Develop and execute test plans (bench and vehicle-level)
- -
- Manage parts sourcing, fabrication vendors, and assembly processes
- -
- Contribute to rapid iteration cycles and field deployments
Required Qualifications
- -
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
- -
- 2+ years of relevant industry or internship experience
- -
Strong hands-on experience with shop tools, including
- -
- Manual mill and lathe
- -
- Laser cutter
- -
- Power tools (drills, grinders, etc.)
- -
- Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
- Familiarity with GD&T and tolerance stack-ups
- -
- Experience designing for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA)
- -
- Ability to build and test prototypes independently
- -
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- -
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment
- Familiarity with sheet metal, machining, and rapid prototyping methods (3D printing, CNC, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- -
- Experience working on large vehicles, or autonomous vehicles
- -
- Basic understanding of electrical systems and sensor integration
- -
- Experience with PLM/PDM systems
- -
- Familiarity with FEA or other simulation tools
- -
- Experience supporting field testing or deployments
- -
- Startup or small-team experience
