HVDC Control & Protection Engineer

About The Role
- You will design, specify, and develop control and protection systems for HVDC converter stations, including valve control, converter control, AC/DC protection, and auxiliary systems also perform detailed system studies and simulations (e.g., PSCAD, PSS/E) to analyze system performance, transient behavior, and validate control and protection strategies.
- You will develop and review technical specifications, functional design specifications (FDS), and detailed design documents for HVDC control and protection systems also conduct hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and factory acceptance testing (FAT) of control and protection equipment.
- You will support site commissioning activities, including functional testing, parameter tuning, and troubleshooting of HVDC control and protection systems.
- You will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, project managers, and customers to ensure successful project execution and participate in root cause analysis for system anomalies and implement corrective actions.
- You will stay abreast of the latest industry standards, technologies, and best practices in HVDC control and protection also prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

- You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- Required with minimum of 5 years of experience in the design, development, and commissioning of HVDC control and protection systems.
- In-depth knowledge of HVDC transmission technologies, converter topologies (e.g., LCC, VSC), and their control principles, proficiency in power system simulation tools such as PSCAD/EMTDC, PSS/E, MATLAB/Simulink.
- Strong understanding of power system protection principles and relaying for AC and DC systems, experience with real-time control systems and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) used in HVDC applications.
- Familiarity with relevant international standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE) for HVDC systems, with an ability to travel domestically and internationally for project meetings, factory acceptance tests, and site commissioning.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, also with strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
