About The Role

  1. You will be responsible for creating and improving analytical tools and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) automations for thermo-fluid dynamic analysis in electrical machines such as transformers and reactors.
  2. You will propose and provide technical solutions for a variety of transformers and reactors, ensuring that they meet the required standards and performance expectations.
  3. You will actively participate in the creation, updating, and maintenance of technical standards that dictate the management of thermo-mechanical performance of various transformers, including dry, liquid-filled, and traction distribution transformers.
  4. You will work within the GLOMUS network, collaborating with other simulation teams to deliver comprehensive multi-physic finite element methodologies and automations for coupled electromagnetic, structural, and fluid-dynamic problems.
  5. You will design and conduct experimental campaigns to validate the technical solutions and numerical models you or the team propose.
  6. You will provide timely and effective support to factories facing technical challenges and facilitate the transfer of technology and knowledge from R&D to the engineering department through the creation of design rules, training materials, and collaboration with design tools teams.
  7. You will carry out CFD simulations for cooling systems in all types of transformers, run feasibility studies, develop new technical concepts, design new products, and simulate their expected performances to contribute to technology development projects.
  8. You will be responsible for ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

  10. You hold a PhD or MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field, with a strong focus on heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics.
  11. Strong hands-on experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and thermo-mechanical simulations, applied to complex industrial systems such as transformers or similar thermal-fluid equipment. Advanced proficiency in numerical methods for thermodynamic and heat transfer simulations, including conjugate heat transfer, turbulence modelling, and transient analyses.
  12. Practical experience with industry-standard tools such as ANSYS CFX/FLUENT, OpenFOAM, COMSOL and StarCCM+, with demonstrated ability to customize models for internal oil flows, cooling ducts, and heat exchangers. Solid knowledge of programming and scripting for model development, automation, and post-processing, including MATLAB, Python, and Visual Basic.
  13. Ability to develop custom thermal or thermal-hydraulic solvers, parameter estimation routines, and data-driven enhancements to physics-based models. Understanding of Fluid–Structure Interaction (FSI) theory, particularly as applied to thermally induced stresses, vibration risks, and deformation in fluid-cooled structures.
  14. Experience coupling thermal, hydraulic, and mechanical domains in Multiphysics simulation environments. Excellent communication skills, able to convey complex thermal and CFD concepts to multidisciplinary teams with strong team spirit, with experience in collaborative, international R&D or engineering environments.
  15. Innovative, out-of-the-box mindset, contributing to advanced modelling approaches, design optimization, and digitalization initiatives.
  16. Willingness to travel and fluency in English are practical requirements for the job that enable collaboration in diverse environments and effective communication in the international arena.
