Business R&D Manager

About The Role
- You will lead and develop the GI Valve R&D department in China, including Electrical and Mechanical Design teams also manage and support team leaders and project managers to ensure development projects are executed efficiently – delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standards, contributing to overall cost competitiveness.
- You will define and implement near-term and forward-looking strategies for the China R&D organization ensuring alignment with the GI valve R&D roadmap and business objectives also foster a cultural of innovation, continues improvement, and constructive challenges of existing conventions to drive technical and organizational progress.
- You will build and strengthen local competence to support current and future HVDC projects globally also ensure organizational stability and sustained performance through efficiency improvements and ongoing leadership development.
- You will work closely with the power electronics team manager and local unit owners to ensure that R&D laboratories and test facilities are available, properly maintained, and adequately equipped to support reliable testing, validation and technology development activities.
- You will collaborate closely with global stakeholders to align local R&D activities with the overall GI Valve technology roadmap and business strategy also oversea resource and capacity planning, balancing project delivery needs and capability development.
- You will promote cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing between China and other global R&D centers, also drive continuous improvement in R&D processes (e.g., Scrum, LCM, project staffing, and sustainable development practices).
- You will serve as hosting manager for local-based Project Managers, supporting hiring, onboarding, target setting, and performance discussions also ensure compliance with company standards on safety, quality, and integrity, fostering a culture of accountability and professional excellence.
- You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

- You hold a Master's or PhD’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Power Electronics (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in leading engineering or technical teams within an international, matrix organization.
- Strong analytical capability and solid technical understanding are essential and familiarity with DC converter valve design is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to build organizational competence and leadership pipelines.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience in change management, continuous improvement, and organizational development.
- High intercultural awareness and alignment with the company’s core values of safety and integrity.
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in English, both written and spoken.
