Position Overview
The Commercial Alliance Associate Director will be responsible for developing, managing, and expanding strategic commercial partnerships that drive revenue growth, market expansion, and long-term business value. This role leads the identification, negotiation, and execution of alliance opportunities with key partners, ensuring alignment with company objectives and customer needs. Serves as a cross-functional leader, working closely with sales, marketing, product, finance, legal, and executive teams to build high-impact partner relationships and optimize alliance performance. The position focuses on creating mutually beneficial commercial frameworks, accelerating go-to-market initiatives, and delivering measurable business outcomes through strategic collaborations.
Responsibilities
- Commercial Alliance Management with Partners
- Governance & Framework: Establish and maintain robust alliance governance frameworks, communication structures, and standard operational workflows for commercial and late-stage assets to ensure excellence of alliance management.
- Joint Committee Leadership: Drive and facilitate key joint governance meetings (like JSC, commercial review meeting) and provide strategic updates, commercial insights, and action items to ensure and monitor higher performance achievements by partners.
- Commercial Value Maximization: Collaborate closely with internal commercial teams (Marketing, Sales, Market Access, Supply Chain, etc.) and external partners to clarify roles, execute go-to-market strategies, expand channel coverage, and deliver commercial targets.
- Financial & Compliance Oversight: Partner with Finance and Commercial Operations to accurately monitor, reconcile, and report all financial elements, including commercial milestone payments, royalty/revenue-sharing models, and shared commercial budgets.
- Key stakeholders’ collaboration: to coordinate, facilitate and manager partners scientific demand, supply to market readiness, risk management and other matters throughout close collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Commercial Opportunity Support
- Commercial Landscape Assessment: Support in assessing market dynamics, competitive landscapes, and commercial risks for potential in-licensing/out-licensing, co-promotion, or commercial equity deals.
- Lifecycle & Pipeline Expansion: Identify and evaluate partner capabilities and market resources to uncover lifecycle extension opportunities (e.g., secondary indications, new sales channels, or joint promotions).
- Contract Obligations
- Contract Compliance: Oversee the execution of commercial agreement terms, ensuring both parties fulfill obligations related to product supply, promotional commitments, and regulatory/compliance audits.
- Issue Resolution: Serve as the first point of contact for resolving operational conflicts and identifying potential default risks early. Proactively resolve issues or escalate them to governance committees in a timely manner.
- End-to-End Ownership: Lead inter-company communications, publish meeting alignment outcomes, and strictly follow through on all cross-company action items to guarantee complete operational closure.
- Education:
o Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- Work Experience:
o 6+ years of total experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, with at least 3–5 years focused on Alliance Management, Commercial Operations, Supply Chain Management or Project Management.
o Experience managing commercial-stage or late-stage partnerships is strongly preferred.

o Project Management & Active Closed-Loop Mentality: Demonstrated track record in leading complex, cross-functional project teams. Strong sense of proactive ownership to follow up, resolve ambiguities, drive initiatives and close loops independently.
o Agility: Highly adaptable in fast-paced environments; able to navigate commercial shifts, changing partner priorities, and conflicting business interests with win-win solutions.
o Stakeholder Management: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders, from internal executives to external leadership.
o Language Skills: Full professional fluency in both spoken and written English and Mandarin.
