Key Highlights - Weekly pay: $1,658–$1,757 per week - Guaranteed hours: 40 per week - Contract duration: 13 weeks - Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM–7:00 PM) - Start date: 08/17/2026 - Work setting: Short-term acute care hospital laboratory - Epic backfill noted - Assignment type: Travel – temporary Responsibilities - Process a variety of laboratory specimens, including most pathological specimens, preparing tissue for pathological testing, and performing gross examination and dissection of anatomic pathology specimens. - Perform postmortem examinations as directed and assist the pathologist during autopsies, providing timely reports. - Conduct gross examinations and dictate findings for specimens from surgical and non-surgical cases. - Assist histotechnologists in preparing tissue and cytology specimens for diagnostic review by pathologists. - Perform transcription and review daily logs; monitor department charges and participate in quality improvement activities to meet CLIA guidelines. - Maintain an orderly, clean work environment, manage tissue waste disposal, and handle stains and reagents in rotation and disposal processes. - Support pathology operations in histology, surgical pathology, cytopathology, and related activities as assigned. Requirements - Education: High School Education/GED or equivalent required; Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination preferred. - Experience: At least two years of recent experience in the field. - Licenses/Certifications: Current nursing license per state of assignment; current BLS certification; ASCP certification (or equivalent) preferred. - Additional: Ability to work in a hospital-lab setting; comfortable with histology, cytology, and autopsy support; EpIC/clinical workflow familiarity is a plus.
