About The Role
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Handle sires of varying ages and sizes in a calm, confident manner for optimum production Work in a system using established protocols Perform regular livestock care including feeding, cleaning, moving cattle, assisting with health testing and veterinary treatments, and other routine tasks Operate company farm equipment and vehicles Clean and maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment QUALIFICATIONS Required Comfortable working with large animals Ability to perform occasional planned weekend duties Capability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds Capacity to work on feet and stand for long periods of time Willingness to learn and follow company protocols 5+ years of previous livestock handling experience Experience detecting health and disease symptoms in cattle Ability to perform basic equipment and building maintenance repairs Post-secondary education in agriculture or related field Basic computer skills working with Microsoft Office CHARACTERISTICS OF A SUCCESSFUL LIVESTOCK SPECIALIST Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced, team environment Effective communicator with attention to detail Keen sense of attention to safe working practices and strong awareness of surroundings Willingness to grow and develop both personally and professionally Details Compensation: $50,000 - $55,000 CAD Benefits: Extended medical, dental and vision benefits, STD, LTD and Life Insurance, HSA and Group RRSP Plan This position will be based out of our Balzac Headquarters at Rocky View County, T4B 2T3
