About The Role

Position Description Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President, Academic, the Associate Vice-President (AVP), International Education is a senior executive leader and highly visible champion of internationalization at George Brown Polytechnic. The AVP provides strategic vision and institutional leadership for international student recruitment and success, global academic and industry partnerships, student and faculty mobility, study-abroad opportunities, and international business development. As a member of the Polytechnic’s senior management team, the AVP leads the Office of International Education and oversees its strategy, operations, people, partnerships, programs, and resources. Working collaboratively across the Polytechnic, the AVP advances international learning and engagement through a lens of global citizenship, social justice, equity, and inclusion. The role develops partnerships and programs that strengthen teaching, applied research, experiential learning, student success, institutional reputation, and sustainable growth. Key Responsibilities Leadership: Strategic Stakeholder Engagement Develop and execute the Polytechnic’s international strategy in alignment with institutional, academic, and enrolment priorities. Cultivate senior-level relationships with post-secondary institutions, industry, government, professional organizations, and other partners to advance the Polytechnic’s international objectives and reputation. Represent George Brown Polytechnic on relevant sector committees, associations, and international initiatives. Use enrolment, market, financial, and student-success data to identify opportunities and inform strategic and operational decisions. International Outreach and Partnership Development Identify, negotiate, and oversee international academic, government, industry, and business partnerships that support recruitment, global learning, and institutional priorities. Collaborate with the Provost and Vice-President, Academic, academic leaders, and faculty to expand international agreements, pathways, exchanges, study-abroad opportunities, experiential learning, and applied research partnerships. Establish effective governance, risk-management, and performance frameworks for international agreements and partnerships. Staff Leadership and Development Lead the Office of International Education and its senior team, with accountability for performance across international recruitment, admissions, partnerships, student services, mobility, and operations. Build and develop a diverse, high-performing team with the capabilities and accountability needed to deliver the Polytechnic’s international priorities. International Student Services and Success Oversee coordinated academic, cultural, immigration, settlement, transition, and related supports for international students and domestic students studying abroad. Strengthen the international student journey from application through graduation, working with Student Success and other areas to improve integration, retention, and achievement. Financial Accountability Provide strategic oversight of the departmental budget and align resources with institutional priorities and operational requirements. Perform other duties as assigned.
