About The Role

Position Description: Under the direction of the Director, Human Rights, Sexual Violence Response, Policy and Compliance, the Manager, Equity, Complaints and Investigations, supports the administration of complaint resolution processes under the Polytechnic’s Human Rights Discrimination and Harassment Policy, Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence Policy, Freedom of Expression Policy, Workplace Violence and Harassment Prevention framework, and related Polytechnic policies. Key Responsibilities: Investigation Case Management and Complaint Coordination Manages complex or escalated cases and recommends strategies for the effective, timely, procedurally fair, trauma-informed, equity-informed, and privacy-compliant management of complaints and investigations. Acts as case manager for matters involving human rights, sexual harassment and sexual violence, workplace harassment, workplace violence-related concerns, freedom of expression-related concerns, and intersecting policy issues, ensuring appropriate action is taken at each stage of the complaint resolution process. Internal Investigations and Assessment Reviews complaints and available information to assist in determining jurisdiction, scope, applicable policy pathway, potential prima facie issues, risk considerations, and whether the matter should proceed through early intervention, alternative resolution, investigation, referral, or another appropriate process. Develops investigation plans, identifies relevant witnesses and documentary evidence, conducts interviews, records evidence, assesses credibility where required, applies the balance of probabilities standard, and prepares investigation reports containing findings of fact and, where mandated, policy-breach analysis. External Investigator Coordination and Quality Management Coordinates the engagement and management of external investigators, including supporting conflict checks, preparing investigation mandates, compiling relevant documentation, clarifying scope, monitoring timelines, and ensuring investigators have the information required to conduct procedurally fair and policy-compliant investigations. Policy, Risk, Education, Reporting and Institutional Support Monitors relevant legislative, regulatory, arbitral, human rights, and sector developments related to human rights, sexual violence, workplace harassment, workplace violence, freedom of expression, privacy, procedural fairness, and post-secondary complaint resolution. Other duties as assigned.
