About The Role

Foundation Model

BGI has accumulated massive single-cell multi-omics and spatial omics datasets with longitudinal (aging- and disease-associated) time-series information. The datasets systematically cover various muscle, bone, and joint tissues, with standardized data formats. These resources are sufficient to support the construction of a cross-species (human, non-human primate, and mouse high-quality datasets as input) cell multi-omics foundation model. Based on this foundation model, virtual organ-specific models—such as virtual muscle models, joint models, and aging models—can be further fine-tuned.

Vertical Applications

  • 1.Early screening and risk prediction for the musculoskeletal aging triad (e.g., sarcopenia, osteoporosis, and osteoarthritis)
  • 2.Integrated sports medicine and healthcare-based physical fitness promotion models and population-level applications
  • 3.Mechanistic elucidation and intervention strategy development for rare diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
  • 4.Personalized assessment and guidance for muscle mass enhancement in the elderly population

(1) Preferred Background

Musculoskeletal Biology, Aging Biology, Bioinformatics, or AI.

(2) Core Technical Skills

Single-cell multi-omics analysis; cross-species modeling; disease mechanism inference.

(3) Modeling Competency

Experience building aging or rare disease intervention models.

(4) Preferred Qualifications

ALS or musculoskeletal disease research experience.

(5) Personal Traits

Interdisciplinary, persistent, and interested in preventive health solutions.
