Adjunct Lecturer, AI User Interfaces for Analytics (On-Campus, Fall '26)

• Columbia University, School of Professional Studies (SPS) seeks candidates to serve
• as a part-time Lecturer to teach a graduate-level course in AI User Interfaces for
• Analytics. The course delivers a comprehensive understanding of the principles of UX
• design, as well as techniques and best practices for developing user interfaces (UIs).
• Students will learn how to create intuitive, interactive, and visually engaging websites and
• dashboards surfacing AI-generated insights. The curriculum covers the entire process
• from design and implementation to the evaluation of UIs. Students gain hands-on
• experience with web development technologies, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and
• related cloud services. Additionally, the course integrates apply state-of-the-art AI
• technologies for creating intelligent and interactive UIs.

Responsibilities

• Lead class lectures, instructional activities, and classroom discussion. Attend all class sessions (classes generally meet once per week for up to 2 hours).
• Monitor and address student concerns and inquiries.
• Evaluate, grade student work and assessments.
• Conduct office hours.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline
• Proficiency in HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and Python
• Good understanding of UX design and data visualization principles
• Proven industry experience in UX/UI and web development

Preferred Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of related professional experience.
• 2+ years of University teaching experience, ideally at the graduate level
• 2+ years of experience with cloud services on AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Any experience applying generative AI models for visualization

• Salary range:  $11,000 - $13,000 per semester long course
