About The Role
- Human Resources announces an opening for Educational Administrative Assistant. This is a full-time (196-days work
- schedule), Grade G-7 position at Gunston Middle School.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs one or more sets of the following; may not include all duties performed; not all incumbents perform all essential
- functions delineated: Performs full range of entry or full proficiency level administrative support and secretarial tasks as assigned
- to support the instructional program; assisting school administration, teachers, and general school operations. Serve as receptionist;
- greets all visitors, answers phones, distributes mail, etc. Composes routine correspondence; may prepare information and
- presentation packets as needed. Organize and maintain files. Incumbent will be assigned specific responsibilities at the work
- site to support the instructional program and general school operations (e.g., maintain complex student records; assist the
- special education process; may serve as the Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Principal or Director of Counseling; support
- specific instructional staff; may perform Attendance, Registration, and STARS Finance tasks). Must be able to dispense medications
- to students when necessary. Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE
- Knowledge of business and school office procedures, practices, and equipment; business English and office terminology. Knowledge
- of the operation, uses and capabilities of computer equipment and computer programs utilized at APS (e.g. Synergy, STAN, and
- STARS); including good knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access, etc. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED; including or supplemented by courses in business and office practices with a minimum of two years’
- responsible clerical experience, preferably in an education-related setting. Excellent human relations skills; ability to maintain
- effective working relationships with other employees at all levels, including students, parents, and the public in a courteous and
- tactful manner. Excellence in business English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; must be able to communicate clearly and
- concisely, both orally and in writing.
