About The Role
Schedule Full-Time: 40 Hours/Weekly Primarily Day, some evenings General Summary Pharmacy Technicians assist with preparation and distribution of medications. Pharmacy Technicians are eligible for advanced technician positions based upon job performance and successful completion of requirements for advancement established in the Pharmacy Technician Career Ladder criteria grids. Essential Functions: Pursuant to the needs and offerings of the hiring department, essential job accountabilities may include the following: Receives and stocks deliveries of pharmaceuticals and other supplies Prepares, packages, and labels medications prior to dispensing. Delivers medications to care areas within the hospital. Delivers medications to off-site locations. Manages pharmacy inventory management, including use of electronic inventory management systems. Monitors product expirations and removes outdated stock from inventory. Responds to product recalls. Compounds non-sterile and sterile medication preparations. Cleans and disinfects procedures. Performs clerical duties such as answering telephones and maintaining adequate supplies. If hired as a Registered Pharmacy Technician Trainee, must acquire the Registered Pharmacy Technician prior to expiration of the Trainee registration. Common Expectations: Provides outstanding customer service to all customers. Fosters teamwork by demonstrating caring behaviors. Practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation. Demonstrates a commitment to patients, visitors, and staff by complying with all applicable safety regulations. Reports actual errors, potential errors, and hazardous/unsafe conditions. Protects sensitive patient data per HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations. Reasonable flexibility for occasional work outside of normally scheduled shifts based on the needs of the pharmacy department and the hospital. Qualifications Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED Required Work Experience: No experience. Required Licenses: Registered Pharmacy Technician Trainee required upon hire OR Registered Pharmacy Technician required upon hire Driver's License Statement: Must possess a valid driver's license in the current state of residence. Driving record must meet requirements established by WellSpan Risk Management.
