About The Role

Assistant Coach

Wrestling

This position reports to the Head Wrestling Coach. The successful candidate will operate with a committed understanding that, in the pursuit of athletic excellence, we also seek to develop students for Christian life and service. The position is 40 hours/week for 9 months/year and pays $26,000-28,000 annually.

Duties

Coaching Leadership

  • Assist the head coach in managing and supporting all aspects of the wrestling program
  • Comply with the mission and vision of Wheaton College; adhere to all College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin and NCAA rules and regulations
  • Assist the head coach in all aspects related to recruiting, selecting, and retaining a minimum of 20-30 team members that reflect the profile of Wheaton College students
  • Monitor team standards
  • Assist the head coach in practice planning and conducting to prepare team for competition
  • Travel with team

Spiritual Leadership

  • Assist the head coach in providing Christian discipleship to current student-athletes
  • Encourage and develop personal relationships with student-athletes
  • Encourage a holistic environment for the well-being of student-athletes

Administrative Leadership

  • Assist the head coach in administrative duties as needed
  • This job description is intended to represent key areas of responsibilities; specific assignments may vary from time to time depending on the operational needs of the department.

Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Collegiate wrestling experience
  • Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes on and off of the mat
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A commitment to the values of NCAA Division III athletics and Christ-centered education

Physical Requirements

  • The person in this position must be able to drive/transport athletes; set up and take down wrestling equipment; and the ability to lift, move, and carry up to 50lbs.
