About The Role
About the job: Kent is looking for a DCS Commissioning Tech to be based in Port Arthur, TX and support regional project site(s). The DCS Commissioning Technicians will execute test activities, ensure instruments are perfectly configured and working optimally, delivering on safety, quality, time and costs of the tests in their remit. Skills and Responsibilities: Responsibilities: Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of DCS components including I/O modules, controllers, servers, HMIs, and networking equipment. Support operations by ensuring proper functioning of control loops, alarms, and interlocks. Assist with configuration updates, logic modifications, and system backups under engineer supervision. Calibrate and maintain field instrumentation associated with the DCS, such as transmitters, control valves, and analyzers. Respond to system alarms and operator-reported issues in a timely manner. Coordinate with process operators and engineers during plant startups, shutdowns, and emergency situations. Support the integration of new equipment or process changes into the DCS. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, configurations, and system changes. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, API, IEC). Participate in plant turnarounds, shutdowns, and commissioning activities as required. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of DCS components including I/O modules, controllers, servers, HMIs, and networking equipment. Support operations by ensuring proper functioning of control loops, alarms, and interlocks. In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development. Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification: Technician certified, with preferably college technical certificate and 5 plus experience DCS or PLC service, support and/or configuration commissioning experience required. Established track record in frontline technician Commissioning, Start-Up and initial platform operations required. Experience with E-house commissioning inclusive of transformers, MCC, switchgear and UPS commissioning. Hands on DCS knowledge at a loop check level and PLC knowledge at a loop check level. Hands on knowledge of all instrument test equipment such as (but not limited to) HART communicator, Fluke multimeters, Wobulators, Pressure simulators such as Druck. Console Experience required. Communication: Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills. Behavior/ Core Competencies: Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines. Proven strong technical skills in discipline subject matter.
