About The Role
The Public Health Nurse (PHN), as an integral member of the Health Network team, provides nursing services within the framework of the Population Health Promotion Model and Primary Health Care. The Public Health Nurse translates knowledge from the health and social sciences to support health-enhancing behaviors of individuals, families and population groups through targeted interventions, programs, and advocacy. Inherent in this role are knowledge, skills, and abilities specific to health promotion, prevention, and protection.
This employee works relatively independently and is expected to make decisions based on sound assessments in accordance with The Public Health Act, the nursing policies and procedures of the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA), the SRNA Standards of Practice, the Canadian Community Health Nursing Standards of Practice, SHA Registered Nurse Specialty Protocols (RNSPs), and other relevant legislation.
