About The Role
The position is a twelve-month appointment to the administrative staff of the college. The Director of Registration, Advising and Compliance is a key member of the College’s leadership team, with frequent interaction with the Academic Affairs, Enrollment, Student Engagement, and Business Affairs units of the college. The Director of Registration, Advising and Compliance reports directly to the Provost. The Director of Registration, Advising and Compliance is responsible for the formulation of the plans, goals, and budget of the Office of Registration and Advising. The Director of Registration, Advising and Compliance works with all areas of the College to ensure that College policies and procedures are consistent with best practices in higher education and fully compliant with relevant organizations, including the Department of Education and the Higher Learning Commission.
Responsibilities
- Supervise activities related to scheduling, registration, advising and maintenance of academic records.
- Serve as a primary user of the College’s student information system.
- Certify candidates for graduation, collect institutional data, participate in the formulation and publishing of term class schedules, issue transcripts, plan the academic calendar, report grades, and evaluate transfer courses.
- Serve as a non-voting member of the Faculty Senate and a member of the Curriculum and Assessment Committee.
- Working with Academic Advising, create articulation agreements and transfer guides
- Oversee the College’s student interdepartmental retention committee (ARC)
- Ensure that the College adheres to HLC guidelines regarding academic and student affairs
- Working with cross disciplinary teams, create and maintain policies related to academic standards, institutional and program-based accreditation, etc.
- Working with all vice presidents, oversee the College’s overall efforts related to compliance and risk mitigation.
- Conduct a compliance, risk management, and policies and procedures review meeting with the College’s vice presidents and other relevant college leaders at least once per semester.
- Maintain and update all of the College’s policies and procedures related to compliance.
- Ensure that relevant policies and procedures are updated on an annual basis, or as appropriate, on the College’s website, or in the Catalog or Student Handbook, as appropriate.
- Serve as the Veterans' Affairs officer of the college and Designated School Official (DSO) for international students
- Stay abreast of industry standards related to compliance in higher education
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree
- 5-10 years of experience as a dean of students or equivalent role
- Familiarity with the higher education protocols, especially as they related to compliance in academic, student services, and business matters.
- Experience as a registrar
- Experience overseeing advising teams
- Experience creating articulation agreements and transfer guides
- Ability to handle details in a precise and accurate manner
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Interpersonal skills likely to lead to positive working relationships with clients
- Knowledge of computerized registration and records systems
- Knowledge of higher education compliance issues (i.e., FERPA, Title IV regulations, etc.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Doctorate
- Fluency in Spanish
