About The Role
AECOM is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to serve as a Senior CMI Project Manager / Deputy CMI Market Sector Lead in support of our growing Construction Management and Inspection (CMI) transportation business throughout Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia .
Responsibilities of this role include, but may not be limited to, the following
 
- Manage all phases of Construction Management and Inspection (CMI) projects from planning through closeout, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and project stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and delivering exceptional client service
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on constructability reviews, field engineering challenges, and construction-related issues throughout project execution
- Apply extensive construction management experience to support project owners, field staff, and multidisciplinary teams in resolving complex technical and operational issues
- Lead, mentor, and develop project teams, promoting collaboration, accountability, and professional growth among engineers, inspectors, and technical staff
- Coordinate and oversee the work of engineers, inspectors, and technicians, ensuring resources are effectively managed to meet project objectives
- Interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate technical assignments requiring sound engineering judgment and knowledge of transportation construction practices
- Collaborate with internal disciplines and external stakeholders to support project delivery, resolve technical issues, and ensure effective communication across all phases of the project
- Exercise independent judgment in resolving technical and project management matters while operating with minimal supervision and broad administrative direction
- Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities, maintaining client relationships, and assisting with the preparation of proposals and project pursuits
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements, applicable regulations, quality standards, and AECOM policies and procedures
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering plus 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Previous experience working on VDOT and/or DDOT projects
- PE License in DC, Maryland or Virginia or the ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity within 6 months of hire
- Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in Construction Management and Inspection (CMI), including experience managing
- Demonstrated recent project and client experience in northern portion of Virginia or DC region
- Previous experience working with VDOT in the northern portion of Virginia and/or DDOT
- Sponsorship is not available for this role
- Relocation support is not available for this position
