About The Role

***Darlington, UK (commutable – hybrid working available). ***

Primo Marine is a specialist marine consultancy supporting some of the world’s most complex offshore energy and subsea cable projects . As demand for offshore wind, interconnectors and HVDC export systems accelerates, we are looking for an experienced Senior Cable Engineer / Cable Advisor to strengthen our UK team.

This is a hands-on advisory role where your experience will directly influence project safety, execution quality and decision-making for leading developers, contractors and owners worldwide.

Your Role

As a Senior Cable Advisor, you will act as a trusted technical authority across the full cable installation lifecycle, supporting clients from planning through execution.

You will

  • Provide technical advisory services on subsea cable and pipeline installation projects.
  • Review and assess contractor installation methodologies , risk assessments and procedures.
  • Identify installation risks and propose practical, experience-based mitigation measures.
  • Support clients with marine operations safety , constructability and industry best practice.
  • Apply lessons learned from previous projects to improve future execution.
  • Interface confidently with clients, contractors, insurers and authorities.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge development and mentoring within Primo Marine.

About You

You are a senior professional who combines deep offshore cable experience with clear communication and sound judgement.

You bring

  • 12+ years’ experience in offshore cable and/or pipeline installation
  • Strong background in subsea power cables (export / inter-array / HVDC) and marine operations
  • Engineering-level education (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience reviewing installation methodologies and managing offshore risks
  • Ability to work independently while contributing actively to a collaborative team
  • Calm, structured decision-making in complex or changing project environments
  • Interest in renewable energy and sustainability (strong plus)

Please note: This role requires you to live within commuting distance of our Darlington office .
