About The Role

Required qualifications

Ph.D or Master degree in Physics or Chemistry

Experience in engine and EATS system simulation or high interest for the area

In-depth knowledge in simulation tools and programming (GT-suite, Matlab, Simulink etc)

Good verbal and written communication skills in English

The Exhaust After-Treatment (EATS) Technology group within Powertrain Strategic Development is seeking a simulation engineer to strengthen our capabilities when it comes to perform complete system evaluations of potential future EATS and powertrain concepts.

The position offers the opportunity to work in a creative and multi-cultural work environment with the mission to explore novel concepts and technologies aiming to meet upcoming, more stringent emission legislations. You will in this position contribute to develop our simulation platform and perform simulation work in different research projects. This will be done in close collaboration with experts from different disciplines within and outside the Exhaust After-Treatment area. In this position, we also offer you possibilities to develop your skills in other technology areas.

Main responsibilities

Develop and validate EATS simulation models including aging/deactivation effects

Perform advanced EATS system simulation/analysis and support the planned testing and the project teams with recommendations and conclusions

Perform sensitivity analysis for future EATS concepts including catalyst size dimensioning and optimization

Contribute to the development of new EATS control strategies

Perform method and tool development

Document and communicate performed work

Network within the Volvo simulation community & with academia

Who we are

The exhaust after-treatment technology group consists of a team of dedicated experts that are responsible for leading the technology development for future EATS platform to meet future emission regulations. We work with development of exhaust after-treatment technologies using Synthetic-gas Catalyst Tests (SCAT) for small scale catalyst samples, multi-cylinder engine test cells for full-scale prototypes and systems, modeling and simulation of exhaust after-treatment components and systems.
