Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Part-time instructor

Job Summary

• The EMS Instructor is a part-time position located thru the CLC Campus in Grayslake, IL and
• teaches in the classroom, laboratory, and clinical settings. Under the direction of the EMS
• Program Director, the EMS Instructor is responsible for preparing, delivering didactic, and
• laboratory education that parallels the NHTSA, IDPH, and National Standards curriculum.

• Perform a variety of administrative duties in support of the EMS education program.
• Maintain a variety of regular and confidential documents including general correspondence,

• reports, class schedules, forms, contracts, and memorandums from rough draft or from
• verbal instructions; prepare copies of documents; distribute information

• Update and maintain files as requested by the directors; assist with forms and collection of

data as requested

• Demonstrate high-level professionalism
• Participate in institutional, advisory, and program/instruction committees, campus activities,

and representation of the college in the community

• Participate in program reviews
• Continue professional development for the improvement of self and the program to meet

the needs of a learning-centered college

• Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for the

position

• Provide accessibility to students and colleagues as expected in a learning-centered college
• Participate in student recruitment, retention, advising, and registration activities
• Perform other duties as assigned by the EMS Program Director

Required qualifications

• Minimum of three years’ work experience in EMS
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Working knowledge/utilization of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software

applications

• Current IL or NREMT, EMT or Paramedic credential, Nursing credential

Preferred qualifications

• Associates degree or higher
• 5 or more years of work experience in EMS
• Evidence of being detail-oriented
• Evidence of effective problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
• Evidence of a strong work ethic with a proven track record of project completion,

multi-tasking, and the ability to handle high-pressure environments

• Evidence of a willingness to accept responsibility for professional and personal growth
• Current certifications of CPR, ACLS, PALS, and ITLS/PHTLS Instructor
• Certification as an EMT or Paramedic Level I or II Instructor
• Experience teaching at the community college level
