Manager, Onshore Wind Project Management

About The Role
Role
As the Manager, Onshore Wind Project Management, you will oversee assigned onshore wind projects in Japan. The key objective/goal is to ensure the successful completion within approved timeline, budget, quality standards and safety requirements. You will manage the CAPEX and DEVEX allocations while co-ordinating cross-functional internal teams and external stakeholders, including local communities and financial institutions.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Management
- Interpret project contract structures and scope definitions.
- Advise on strategic considerations for TSAs, LTSAs, BoP contracts, and related agreements.
- Collaborate with the Legal team to manage contract complexities and align stakeholder interests.
- Maintain accurate project records in the management system.
- Issue certificates, reports, NTPs, and other contract deliverables as required.
Schedule Management
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, identifying critical activities for success.
- Monitor progress against baselines and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Proactively mitigate delays through stakeholder alignment.
Cost Management
- Produce cost and benefit analysis aligned to project schedules/timelines.
- Collaborate with the Technical Service team in RFQ development.
- Define and monitor project cash flow (CF) expectations and expenses.
- Work closely with Legal and Finance teams to ensure contract contents align with CF expectations and regulations.
- Monitor and report actual cash flow and variances.
- Generate financial reports with investment, financial, and commercial departments.
- Evaluate economic results (final CF and deviations from expectations).
Risk and Opportunity Management
- Identify, assess and mitigate risks associated with costs and occurrence probabilities.
- List and pursue opportunities with defined achievement conditions.
Technical Management
- Organise periodic meetings with technical service and third parties.
- Ensure construction adherence to all requirements stipulated in the Construction plan.
- Lead technical due diligence for lender submissions.
- Support technical service and procurement teams on Class NK-related documents.
Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Establish communication protocols with subcontractors and customers.
- Conduct weekly and monthly meetings with subcontractors on-site, and with the project teams.
- Monitor daily work activities and prepare reports with contractors and site personnel.
- Produce executive-level reports on project status.
- Manage and resolve conflicts as needed.
Quality Management
- Define quality standards with the Quality Department to ensure project meets initial plans.
Other Responsibilities
- Ensure on-time, on-budget, and high-quality project delivery.
- Initiate Commercial Task Requests (CTRs) in collaboration with Commercial teams.
- Implement NDAs with EPC Wind supplier
Pre-requisites
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in renewable energy project management (wind energy preferred).
- Formal Project Management certification (preferably PMP or IPMA Level C or above).
- Strong knowledge of wind and EPC management.
- Excellent negotiation, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Fluency in English.
