About The Role

Critical competencies for the position

We are looking for you who have a Master of Law and a minimum of five to seven years solid legal experience from a law firm, in-house legal counsel or equivalent. You have strong personal credibility and integrity, a true business interest and a can-do mind-set, with high drive and energy and a readiness to perform multiple duties effectively in a fast paced environment.

Proficiency in negotiation and drafting of contracts together with a solid experience from contract and commercial law, product liability, bankruptcy and international purchasing related matters are important requirements. Experience from handling (either directly or through the retention of external legal counsel) complex commercial litigation is preferred. Distinctive problem-solving abilities and communication skills are also pre-requisites for this position, together with cultural awareness and appreciation. You also need to be both a team player and be able to work individually with full own responsibility. Prior experience working with a multi-national organization is a merit.

Excellent English skills, both orally and in writing are essential. A good understanding of the automotive business is an advantage.

We are recruiting a Legal Counsel to the GTP Legal Department to support the purchase of components and services for the Volvo Group. You will be part of a global team of legal counsels providing legal support to the purchasing organisation. You will report to the Senior Vice President Legal & Compliance GTP. The work tasks offer cross-functional collaboration with other Volvo legal counsels and business stakeholders across the globe, and will require travelling from time to time.

Main activities and responsibilities

Participate in contract drafting and negotiations

Participate in larger sourcing projects

Provide counselling to business stakeholders in conjunction with disputes

Drafting and updating contract templates and legal guidelines

Provide support on intellectual property matters

Assist with insolvency and bankruptcy matters

Promote compliance with laws and regulations and internal legal processes

Develop and provide training on legal and purchasing issues

Coordinate with legal counsels from other parts of the Volvo Group
