  • Master of Science or equivalent
  • Experience within Engineering on electronic/electrical or cab or chassis development (in the concerned subject matters)
  • Leadership experience from line or project management
  • Negotiation skills and experience
  • Good communication and networking skills
  • Good capacity to analyze/summarize documentation to focus on key issues
  • Ability to take actions / reasonable risks to achieve results, and to persevere when challenged.
  • Background in Volvo processes and organization
  • Knowledge about product development processes
  • Take own initiatives and drive certain actions on your own leadership and empowerment
  • Knowledge of EU legislative and regulatory processes, experience in regulation development, compliance, or related area would be appreciated

Who are we?

We are a global team of around 15 regulation specialists, belonging to the Truck Technology Product Planning organization and we have the responsibility to influence, externally, the development of product regulations, to lead the global product regulation network, as well as to provide, internally, information about current, proposed and expected motor vehicle regulations.

Job description

Your mission will be to provide the Volvo organizations with the expected regulations to implement so that Volvo products can comply with the regulation in due time.

Your activity will be to follow up regulation development in your area of responsibility, on a global scale. To do so, you will be our representative in European or international manufacturer organizations, you will use our internal global regulation network to have a clear picture of what will come. You will have to identify, define and anchor the needed Volvo position to influence regulation development, to engage with authorities, industry peers and other external stakeholders in regulation development, and clearly communicates internally the final outcome. You will also provide, internally, global or regional product regulation forecasts, global overviews and summaries of existing regulations. You will act as a subject matter expert for your area of responsibility. As such you will support the Volvo organization to secure compliance with expected regulations in due time, you will support projects by providing input to prerequisites, providing guidance, and driving resolution of interpretation issues if required.

Your area of responsibility will cover the following topics

  • Electric vehicles, including REchargeable Energy Strorage System (REESS) and including charging of batteries (Safety)
  • Human Machine interface (HMI)
  • Speed limiter and ISA (Intelligent Speed Assistance)
  • Software update
  • Lighting installation & Lighting and light signalling devices
  • Tachographs, electronic logging devices, Event Data Recording
  • Driver distraction & drowsiness recognition
  • Alcohol interlocks
