Manager - Ocean Export

About The Role
To lead and grow the Ocean Export product by delivering operational excellence, driving profitable growth, strengthening customer relationships, developing high-performing teams, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, while ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and strategic objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
          PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT
- Build and maintain a strong leadership pipeline through effective succession planning, coaching, and talent development.
- Ensure timely completion of employee performance reviews, with meaningful feedback and development discussions conducted at least annually.
- Lead and participate in the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of high-caliber talent to support business growth and succession needs.
- Conduct effective monthly department meetings to communicate priorities, review performance, share best practices, and strengthen team engagement.
- Regularly review departmental goals, business plans, and key performance indicators with the team to ensure alignment, ownership, and accountability.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth by ensuring all employees meet or exceed the company’s annual training requirements, including leadership and management development programs for current and future leaders.
- Create an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performance work environment that promotes employee engagement, retention, and operational excellence.
OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE
- Develop and maintain an effective organizational structure that supports operational excellence, scalability, succession planning, and future business growth.
- Establish, track, and continuously improve key performance indicators (KPIs) related to productivity, service quality, profitability, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
- Foster a culture of compliance and accountability by ensuring adherence to all company policies, Operational Process Standards (OPS), customer requirements, and applicable local and international regulations.
- Understand, map, and continuously optimize departmental processes to enhance efficiency, improve customer service levels, reduce cycle times, and drive cost control.
          CUSTOMER
- Drive profitable growth of the Ocean Export product through active engagement in business development, customer retention, and close collaboration with Sales and Account Management teams.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to increase revenue, improve customer retention, expand service offerings and capabilities, and strengthen the department’s market position.
- Build and strengthen strategic customer relationships through regular business reviews, performance discussions, and proactive engagement to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
- Lead and support the successful implementation, onboarding, and transition of new business opportunities and changes to existing customer programs, ensuring seamless execution and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with regional and global product teams to deliver consistent, customer-centric solutions that align with strategic business objectives.
FINANCE
- Take ownership of the department’s financial performance by regularly reviewing profit and loss results, productivity metrics, and business objectives with district leadership, and implementing actions to improve results.
- Drive sustainable profitability through continuous analysis and improvement of freight yields, pricing strategies, operational efficiency, and customer profitability.
- Ensure strict adherence to company credit policies and procedures to manage financial risk while supporting business growth.
- Oversee and manage vendor accounts payable processes, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payments through approved company systems and processes.
- Promote a culture of financial accountability by ensuring leaders and team members understand the impact of operational decisions on profitability, cash flow, and overall business performance

TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
TRAINING
- Meet company standards of minimum 52 hours training per year, including as needed management/leadership training
 
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years of freight forwarding or logistics experience, with significant exposure to Ocean Export operations, customer service, and supply chain solutions.
- Minimum 2 years of leadership or people management experience, with a proven track record of developing high-performing teams and future leaders.
