About The Role

This position collaborates with physicians, coaches, and healthcare professionals to support athlete health and performance, maintains accurate medical documentation, and serves as a key liaison among athletes, parents, coaches, and medical staff while ensuring compliance with the Florida Athletic Training Practice Act.

This position typically reports to a Head Athletic Trainer, Director, or appropriate higher-level administrator in the University.

• Provides medical care to assigned patient populations, including daily evaluations, emergency care, treatments, rehabilitation sessions, and attending practices and games as assigned.
• Develop injury prevention programs, which may include use of modalities, therapeutic exercises, reconditioning exercises, along with other members of the healthcare and performance team.
• Utilize software to track and document patient medical records and coordinate insurance information.
• Acts as a liaison between patients, parents, coaches, physicians, administrators and others as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned

This position requires a Master's degree from an accredited university; certification by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC); and eligible for Florida State Department of Health licensure.

SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements

A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed:

  • (a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
  • (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree;
  • (c) Six years of direct experience for a master’s degree;
  • (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
  • (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree

Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.

Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.
