About The Role

The Employee Relations (ER) & HR Operations function plays an integral role in MRI’s global Talent Management strategy by creating an environment where people can perform and grow while providing leaders with the coaching, guidance, and support they need to lead their teams effectively. The team reduces organizational risk, provides workforce insights, and creates a positive employee experience for our employees across the globe.

MRI is seeking a dynamic, results-driven ER & HR Ops leader to help strengthen and elevate our Talent function. The Employee Relations & HR Operations Senior Manager will be responsible for delivering effective, consistent, and compliant ER and HR operational support for across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Hong Kong. This role will have direct and indirect reports and work closely with the HR Shared Services & ER team in the Philippines on escalations and operational support, and building out the capabilities of this function.

The successful candidate will ensure ER and HR Operations processes run efficiently, accurately, and in line with global and regional employment requirements. They will lead on complex ER casework, provide trusted guidance to leaders and HR leadership, and support key HR processes including payroll, contracts, benefits, systems, and compliance. In addition to leading the APAC region, this individual will form part of MRI’s global Employee Relations team, partnering closely with colleagues and leaders in North America and Europe, Middle East, and Africa . As such, enthusiasm for working in a global team and contributing to a collaborative, fast-paced environment is essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with Global & Regional Talent Management leadership to support the execution of the Global ER & Ops Strategy , and support the Global VP, Employee Relations & Operations in understanding key Regional issues.
  • Provide direct and indirect leadership & development to the ER & HRSS team in the Philippines . Monitor workflow and capacity in addition to their own casework, as well as handle escalations.
  • Acts as SME and provide senior-level guidance and support to leaders on Employee Relations (ER) best practices, conflict resolution, and proactive people management. This role is hands on and responsible for managing higher-level ER cases & paperwork in addition to advising HRSS escalations on such cases.
  • Build and drive a performance management framework in line with global principles to ensure leaders are supported and employees understand how to succeed at MRI. Partner with leaders on performance management concerns and provide data insights.
  • Act as the primary point of contact and manage complex ER cases, including disciplinaries, grievances, capability assessments, absences, appeal processes, and ensure consistent, fair, and legally compliant handling of matters in line with local employment law.
  • Monitor ER case trends and provide data insights to inform policy updates, employee engagement, training needs, and cultural initiatives. Provide Risk Management advise to the business based on our findings.
  • Responsible for all employee policies and procedures as outlined in the regional Employee Handbooks, and reviews the handbooks regularly to ensure compliance. Ensures consistent application of policies & procedures across the business.
  • Oversee day to day HR operations in partnership with the HR Shared Services (HRSS) team and ER team, including HR systems, payroll, benefits administration, and employee data & document accuracy.
  • Partner with Finance/Payroll team on payroll queries & issues that overlap between the two functions. Attend regular payroll meetings to ensure information is accurate & flowing.
  • Responsible for all employee policies and procedures as outlined in the regional Employee Handbooks, and reviews the handbooks regularly to ensure compliance. Ensures consistent application of policies & procedures across the business.
  • Oversee and/or support audits, risk reviews, and compliance checks relating to HR operations.
  • In partnership with global Total Rewards & HRSS, advises on regional employee benefit design & execution, as well as oversee day to day administration from HRSS and ER team as needed.
  • Key player in the onboarding and managing talent M&A activities for APAC, in coordination with HRSS and ER team.
  • Manage and process all company sponsored visa holders in partnership with an external partner.
  • Understand and embed Culture & Belonging objectives into everyday practice and ER/HR Operations activities. Partner with the organisation to support & reinforce our Diversity & Inclusion commitment.

PRE-REQUISITES

  • 10+ years senior Employee Relations experience required. Ability to manage complex ER cases & paperwork independently (including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management, redundancy, dismissals, etc.) is critical.
  • Strong relationship and stakeholder management ; influencing skills and able to partner with senior leadership across multiple countries on key issues.
  • Sound APAC HR knowledge and experience, keeps abreast of regional ER requirements.
  • Sound knowledge and/or experience with Compensation and Benefits, Payroll, Performance Management, as well as Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion principles.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to flex work hours and join meetings/calls outside of standard APAC business hours to partner with global ER team & business leaders across multiple countries is required.
