Medical Assistant I (AMC)

AMC is a specialty medical clinic focused on the treatment of substance use disorders and related medical conditions. We provide comprehensive, low-barrier, evidence-based medical care including medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD), long-acting injectable therapies, hepatitis C treatment, obesity medicine, and coordinated behavioral health support.

We are seeking either a Certified Medical Assistant or a motivated Pre-Certified Medical Assistant eligible for on-the-job training (OJT) to join our collaborative medical team.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Certified Medical Assistant

Required – Current Certification from ONE of the following or ability to receive certification within 6 months of hire

• American Medical Technologists (AMT)
• National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
• American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
• National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
• National Health career Association (NHA – CCMA)
• OR licensure as Oregon EMT (Intermediate or Paramedic)

Additional Requirements

• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
• Basic knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding conventions
• Working knowledge of medical documentation standards
• Familiarity with practice management systems
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA

Preferred

• AAMA certification
• Two (2) years of medical assisting experience

Pre-Certified Medical Assistant (OJT Pathway)

Required

• Prior healthcare exposure (clinical, administrative, or college-level coursework in a health-related field)
• Basic medical terminology knowledge
• Demonstrated ability to work in a healthcare environment
• Willingness to complete certification requirements within designated timeframe
