Research Software Engineer (Automation and DevOps) - IT Services - 102683 - Grade 7

Advanced Research Computing (ARC) is seeking a Research Software Engineer with strong automation and DevOps expertise to help design, deliver, and support ARC services at the University of Birmingham. The role sits in the BEAR Applications team and works closely with ARC’s Architecture, Infrastructure and Systems Group to enhance systems underpinning key services, including the upcoming Baskerville NCR and local HPC systems. You will develop and maintain Python middleware, web apps, automated workflows, CI pipelines, containerised deployments and documentation, while troubleshooting complex issues and contributing to project planning and service improvement.
