About The Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer you have a University Degree in Mechanical Engineering, with an interest in electronics and working experience in a product development environment. You like to drive innovative projects with a problem solving approach built on curiosity and you have the courage to try new solutions and explore the unknown.

With your excellent communication skills you have the capability to build strong relations with both internal as external stakeholders. You are passionate about creating the best technical solutions for our customers at the right price with the right quality, beautiful in design and with focus on sustainability.

IKEA of Sweden is a truly global environment and you will interact and work together with people from all around the world and therefore you need to be fluent in English. As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will be a part of the technical development of new products and components in the Shared solutions team. Your main focus will be in the area Mechanical/Electrical solutions for luminaries. You will actively search information, inspiration and knowledge contributing to technical development in the areas of Mechanical constructions and LED/low power products within lighting area. You will be planning and conducting your own projects and deliver the ready product and component together with the team and suppliers around the world. The products will be a part of the future IKEA lighting products for years to come. IKEA Range & Supply has the responsibility to develop, design, produce and supply IKEA stores with home furnishing solutions available to the many people. Each year IKEA Range & Supply introduces 2,000 new products in the IKEA stores. The total range is almost 10,000 products.
