About The Role

  • The cattle truck driver position is a person who ensures that cattle are loaded, transported and
  • delivered to Beef Northwest Feeders feedyards and outside sale locations in a safe and consistent
  • manner. The driver is responsible for the health, safety and welfare of the livestock during transport
  • and is committed to maintaining BNW's high standards of animal care and regulatory compliance.

Reports To: Feedyard Manager

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential

  • Drive cattle truck and trailer
  • Load, transport and unload cattle safely and humanely
  • Maintain communication with cattle supervisor and feedyard manager
  • Fill out and complete the daily checklist on truck
  • Perform pre and post trip inspections
  • Maintain Beef Northwest Feeders safety standards
  • Adhere to BNW's animal handling protocols and HACCP standards
  • Clean up spills and debris at loading sites, on the highway and at the feedyard
  • Ability to put chains on in inclement weather
  • Perform maintenance on cattle trucks and trailers

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Must have good time management skills
  • Must have a valid CDL and health card
  • Must be able to operate semi-truck and trailer safely and efficiently
  • Must have knowledge of or willingness to learn animal handling best practices
  • Must be able to problem solve

Typical Physical Requirements

  • Requires climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, overhead reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
  • Must be able to lift 100 lbs to chest height and 50 lbs overhead
