Cattle Truck Driver

About The Role
- The cattle truck driver position is a person who ensures that cattle are loaded, transported and
- delivered to Beef Northwest Feeders feedyards and outside sale locations in a safe and consistent
- manner. The driver is responsible for the health, safety and welfare of the livestock during transport
- and is committed to maintaining BNW's high standards of animal care and regulatory compliance.
Reports To: Feedyard Manager
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential
- Drive cattle truck and trailer
- Load, transport and unload cattle safely and humanely
- Maintain communication with cattle supervisor and feedyard manager
- Fill out and complete the daily checklist on truck
- Perform pre and post trip inspections
- Maintain Beef Northwest Feeders safety standards
- Adhere to BNW's animal handling protocols and HACCP standards
- Clean up spills and debris at loading sites, on the highway and at the feedyard
- Ability to put chains on in inclement weather
- Perform maintenance on cattle trucks and trailers
Requirements
Qualifications
- Must have good time management skills
- Must have a valid CDL and health card
- Must be able to operate semi-truck and trailer safely and efficiently
- Must have knowledge of or willingness to learn animal handling best practices
- Must be able to problem solve
Typical Physical Requirements
- Requires climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, overhead reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions.
- Must be able to lift 100 lbs to chest height and 50 lbs overhead
