Sompo has a unique opportunity for an Underwriting Assistant in our Financial Lines team.

Our Financial Lines Underwriting team provides coverages including, but not limited to, Directors & Officers, Errors and Omissions, Cyber, Employment Practices Liability and Lawyers Professional Liability. What you’ll be doing

  • Support Financial Lines Underwriters throughout the policy lifecycle, including quoting, binding, registration (SAP), policy issuance, and post-bind processing.
  • Enter, maintain, and validate submission data for new and renewal business, ensuring accuracy of expiring structures, endorsements, and related policy records.
  • Create, organize, and maintain underwriting files for new and renewal accounts, ensuring all required documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with company standards.
  • Coordinate with external distribution partners and internal underwriters to obtain outstanding underwriting information and documentation, including workups, referrals, rating tools, quotes, binders, and related correspondence.
  • Maintain account diaries and proactively track outstanding action items to ensure timely completion of underwriting and policy processing requirements.
  • Generate loss information and supporting account data for underwriting reviews and renewal preparation and prepare and maintain rating models to support pricing and analysis.
  • Provide additional support to the Financial Lines Underwriting team including premium payment tracking, calendar management and client meetings.

What you’ll bring

  • 2 years of relevant experience, preferably within the P&C insurance industry
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments whilst maintaining a high degree of accuracy
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a methodical, process-driven approach
  • Ability to deliver consistent, high-quality work while managing deadlines, shifting priorities and periods of increased operational intensity
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates curiosity, initiative, and proactive approach to developing new skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience

Salary Range: $85,000 – $115,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
