About The Role
Environmental Services TechnicianThe Environmental Services Associate plays a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of patients, staff, and visitors within a healthcare facility. By maintaining a sterile and clean environment, housekeeping helps to prevent the spread of infections and promote overall hygiene. The importance of practical hospital housekeeping cannot be overstated, as it directly impacts patient recovery, the overall hospital environment, and the facility's reputation for cleanliness and care quality. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Thoroughly cleaning patient rooms, including disinfecting surfaces, furniture, and equipment to eliminate germs and bacteria.
- Properly making beds to ensure patient comfort while adhering to hospital cleanliness and infection control protocols.
- Replenishing clean linens, including sheets, blankets, and towels, and safely
handling soiled linens to prevent cross-contamination.
- Regular sweeping, mopping, and managing spills to keep floors safe and clean,
reducing the risk of slips and falls.
- Ensuring all restrooms are cleaned and provided with necessary supplies (soap, paper towels, etc.) to maintain hygiene standards.
- Properly handling and disposing of medical waste, recycling, and general trash as per regulatory guidelines.
- Tracking cleaning supplies and equipment and notifying supervisors when inventory is low.
- Following hospital policies and protocols for infection control and safety, including using personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Identifying and reporting any maintenance or safety concerns in the facility that may require attention.
- Working closely with nursing and medical staff to coordinate cleaning schedules around patient care needs.
- All other duties as assigned by the Facility Administrator and Hospital Administration.
OTHER DUTIES
- Perform any job related to the registration and patient access process.
- Assist management with additional tasks or projects as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma
- A minimum of one year of experience in a hospital setting is required.
- Remain flexible with staffing patterns, and staffing conflicts that may include participating in temporary assignments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Constant: Vision (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth, and ability to adjust
- focus); Hearing; Speaking; Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or
- controls; Walk; Sit; Balance; Repetitive motions
- Frequent: Bend, Squat, Twist, Push/Pull up to 20 pounds without assistance; up to 50 with assistance; Lift/Carry up to 20 pounds without assistance; up to 50 pounds with assistance
- Occasional: Climb, Kneel, Crouch, Distinguish Colors, Exposure to noise/highpitched noise, Exposure to hazards, allergens, toxins/chemicals/detergents
- Rarely: Exposure to potential electric shock; Work in a confined area
- Other: Must be able to wear personal protective equipment, including gloves,
gowns, goggles, and masks.
- Potential exposure to infectious diseases.
- Potential for cuts and bruises.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- OSHA Category I: Normal routine involves exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissue as part of employment.
- Adhere to and demonstrate knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations
- pertaining to infection control, hazardous materials, fire safety, emergency
- preparedness, and safety.
