About The Role

Role Overview / Purpose and Scope

The Jack Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently moving product in and out of coolers, freezers, shipping areas, and other areas of the plant using an electric or manual jack. This role supports production, warehouse, and shipping operations by picking customer orders, transporting product, assembling merchandise for shipment, and ensuring the correct products are moved to the correct locations.

The Jack Operator plays an important role in maintaining product flow, supporting shipment accuracy, protecting product quality, and helping ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment. This position requires attention to detail, safe equipment operation, communication with supervisors and team members, and the ability to work in a cold, damp, and fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Move product in and out of coolers, freezers, shipping areas, and other areas of the plant using an electric or manual jack.
  • Efficiently pick customer orders for shipment.
  • Ensure the correct number and type of product is loaded and transported to the appropriate area .
  • Assemble various types of merchandise for shipment.
  • Carry or transport orders to shipping locations or delivery platforms using material handling equipment.
  • Stencil, tag, or mark orders as requested.
  • Repack and weigh orders that require additional handling when necessary.
  • Report quality variances, product concerns, or order discrepancies to the appropriate supervisor or team member.
  • Read and understand English and identify items on paperwork.
  • Communicate verbally with supervisors, leads, and team members.
  • Safely operate electric or manual jack equipment after completing required training.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
  • Follow all safety requirements, company policies, and department procedures.
  • Work overtime as needed based on business and production needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Compensation

Compensation Rate: $18.00/hr.

Additional Compensation: Shift differential available for 2 nd positions.

The posted compensation range for this role reflects the minimum and maximum amount Farmer Focus in good faith expects to pay at the time of posting, based on factors such as internal equity, relevant experience, market data, and the budgeted amount available for the position.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and understand English.
  • Ability to identify items on paperwork.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with supervisors, leads, and team members.
  • Ability to be trained to safely operate an electric jack.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to accurately pick, transport, load, and stage product for shipment.
  • Ability to work in a damp and cold environment.
  • Ability to walk constantly throughout the plant while picking and delivering products.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stand, walk, and perform physical work throughout the shift.
  • Willingness to work and support production, warehouse, and shipping needs.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
  • Ability to follow safety requirements, company policies, and department procedures.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience operating an electric jack, manual jack, pallet jack, or similar material handling equipment.
  • Prior warehouse , shipping, receiving, production, food processing, poultry processing, or inventory experience.
  • Experience picking customer orders, staging shipments, or transporting product in a cooler or freezer environment.
  • Experience identifying product, order, or quality discrepancies.

New team members must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screening post-offer and prior to the start of their employment. Must be authorized to work in the United States. The Immigration Reform and Control Act requires that verification of employment eligibili ty be documented for all new employees by the end of their third day of work.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Travel

Work is conducted primarily in a manufacturing, warehouse, shipping, cooler, freezer, and poultry production environment. This role requires access to the poultry production environment and may require working in damp, cold, wet, and chill conditions throughout the plant. The team member must be able to tolerate varying heat, wet, and chill conditions within the plant. Hearing and eye protective equipment are required in the production area. Hair and beard nets are required in the production area. Additional personal protective equipment may be required based on task, location, and safety requirements. This position requires constant walking throughout the plant while picking and delivering products. The role may also require standing, bending, lifting, carrying, operating material handling equipment, transporting product, working in coolers or freezers, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.
