Job Description Summary

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) invites resumes for a full-time, exempt position with full benefits. The position reports to the Vice President for Athletics and Recreation.

The Inaugural Head Women’s Flag Football Coach is responsible for the overall administration, organization, and leadership of the NCAA Division I Women’s Flag Football program at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Responsibilities include recruiting and retaining qualified student-athletes, planning and conducting practices and competitions, player development, academic monitoring, scheduling, budget management, equipment oversight, and supervision of assistant coaches and support staff.

Salary: $50,000 to $65,000

Responsibilities

  • Direct all aspects of the Women’s Flag Football program.
  • Recruit and retain qualified student-athletes.
  • Plan, organize, and conduct practices, training sessions, and competitions.
  • Develop student-athletes athletically, academically, and personally.
  • Monitor academic progress and coordinate support services when

necessary.

  • Schedule competitions and coordinate team travel.
  • Manage program budgets and equipment inventories.
  • Supervise assistant coaches, graduate assistants, and support staff.
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, and University regulations.
  • Promote the program through community engagement, fundraising, and

alumni relations.

  • Perform administrative duties related to the operation of the program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Athletics and

Recreation

Preferences

  • Previous collegiate or competitive flag football coaching experience
  • High school, collegiate, and/or professional coaching
  • Experience recruiting and developing student-athletes.
  • Demonstrated leadership and program management experience.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with student athletes, faculty,

staff, alumni, and the public.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and supervisory skills.
  • Knowledge of flag football coaching strategies, player development, and

practice planning.

  • Experience with recruiting and evaluating prospective student-athletes.
  • Ability to monitor academic progress and support student-athlete success.
  • Budget management and equipment oversight skills.
  • Knowledge of NCAA, conference, and institutional compliance regulations.
  • Ability to promote a positive team culture and student athlete welfare.

Physical Demands

  • May be required to perform physical work requiring bending, stooping,

reaching, carrying, and frequent heavy lifting.

  • May be required to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • May be required to wear and work in personal protective equipment.
  • May be required to operate a variety of equipment to include office

equipment

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree.

Experience

  • Previous playing or coaching experience
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division I and MEAC rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and development of student athletes.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills including writing skills.
