FPSO Product Business Director

About The Role
FPSO Product Strategy & Portfolio Management
- Develop medium & long-term FPSO product roadmap covering standard modular FPSO, deepwater FPSO, low-carbon FPSO, marginal field compact FPSO and asset life extension packages, aligning with global offshore energy transition trends.
- Conduct continuous market & competitor analysis on FPSO newbuild/conversion yard capacity, pricing models, technical differentiation, client capital expenditure cycles and regional project pipelines (Brazil, West Africa, Southeast Asia, North Sea).
- Define product value propositions, technical-commercial differentiation, cost benchmarking and profitability targets for each FPSO product variant.
- Drive cross-functional alignment with engineering, technical design, supply chain and cost teams to optimize product design for market competitiveness and margin control.
- Global Business Development & Client Executive Management
- Build and maintain C-level strategic relationships with global NOCs, IOCs, independent operators, FPSO owners, fund investors and offshore contractors; act as primary executive liaison for top-tier clients.
- Originate, qualify and progress high-value FPSO project leads, manage end-to-end sales pipeline from early client concept study, FEED support, tender bidding through contract negotiation and award.
- Lead commercial negotiation for large FPSO EPC, conversion, long-term charter and life extension contracts, balancing technical requirements, risk allocation, profit margin and delivery commitments.
- Represent the company at global offshore energy conferences, industry forums and client executive workshops to strengthen FPSO product brand influence.
- Bid, Tender & Project Commercial Governance
- Oversee full tender delivery for FPSO mega-projects: coordinate bid management, technical proposal, cost estimation, schedule planning and risk assessment teams.
- Review all FPSO commercial proposals, pricing models, contract terms and bid submissions to ensure compliance with corporate risk and profitability thresholds.
- Post-award handover coordination with project execution team; monitor project commercial performance, claim management and revenue recognition throughout delivery.
- Team Leadership & P&L Accountability
- Lead and develop the global FPSO product & BD team (product managers, regional BD managers, bid specialists); set annual sales, margin and market share KPIs, conduct performance review and talent succession planning.
- Own full P&L of the FPSO product division: deliver annual revenue, gross profit and cash flow targets; control product development R&D budget and marketing expenses.
- Regularly present FPSO market updates, pipeline status, project risks and business performance to senior management and group board.
- Low-Carbon & New Energy FPSO Development
- Track decarbonization demands: integrate carbon capture, electrification, zero-emission power and green fuel solutions into next-generation FPSO product offerings.
- Explore hybrid FPSO, offshore wind-FPSO integration and low-carbon asset retrofit business opportunities to capture energy transition market growth.
- Education Background Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Offshore Engineering, Naval Architecture or Oil & Gas related discipline; MBA preferred. Top-tier university academic background is highly preferred by premium EPC clients.
- Core Industry Experience (Mandatory) Minimum 12–15 years progressive experience within top international EPC yards, FPSO design houses or offshore operator companies; at least 7 years in senior product / business development leadership roles focusing on FPSO full-cycle projects (newbuild, conversion, life extension). Proven track record of closing multi-billion-dollar FPSO EPC or charter projects with global oil majors. Deep hands-on understanding of FPSO topside process, hull integration, mooring system, detailed design, construction schedule and cost structure. Experience working with traditional offshore EPC operators is critical; candidates only from equipment vendors without full FPSO project exposure will not be considered.
- Professional Capabilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of global FPSO market, regional field development rules, tender processes and industry commercial standards.
- Strong executive negotiation, large contract structuring and risk management capability for complex offshore projects.
- Excellent cross-functional leadership to align engineering, procurement, construction, finance and legal teams.
- Fluent business English for global client meetings, tender documentation and cross-region collaboration; multilingual (Mandarin + English) preferred for APAC market coverage.
- Global industry network with senior decision-makers across oil companies, yards and investment institutions.
- Soft Competencies Strategic market vision, data-driven decision-making, high resilience under mega-tender pressure, sharp commercial acumen and outstanding cross-cultural communication skills.
