Senior/Staff Backend Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE

Join a lean, high-caliber core engineering team at a fast-growing AI-first startup in the physical security and critical event management space. The platform leverages agentic AI to monitor real-time threat signals — including 911 radio dispatch and social media OSINT — delivering verified, actionable alerts to enterprise security operations teams in seconds. Customers include Fortune 50 retailers, major utilities, and leading autonomous-vehicle companies.

The company was founded by public-safety technology veterans, is backed by top-tier seed investors, and has crossed strong early revenue milestones with impressive customer retention. The core engineering team is small and intentional — this is a meaningful, high-ownership role.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Own core platform functionality end-to-end, from idea through production and polish
• Design and build backend systems that power real-time threat intelligence ingestion, processing, and alerting
• Develop and iterate on AI pipelines and agentic workflows
• Build user-configured workflow systems that enable security operations teams to act quickly and precisely
• Collaborate closely with a small, senior core team to ship features the industry hasn't seen before
• Flex across engineering specialties as needed in an early-stage environment

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required

• Senior or Staff level backend engineering experience
• 0→1 ownership experience — you've taken a large project or product feature from idea to polished delivery, end-to-end
• Demonstrated ability to dive into different areas of engineering (flexibility is key on a lean team)
• Based in the United States

Nice to Have

• Experience building user-configured workflow or automation systems
• Experience building AI pipelines or working with agentic systems
• Early-stage startup experience
• Eye for product design and UX

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Salary: $180,000 – $205,000 annually
• Visa sponsorship available
