About The Role

JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision performs accounting clerical duties which require knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Process grant financial reports, coordinate grant sub-recipient expenditures and reimbursements.
  • Maintain grant spreadsheets, files, and grant records management by uploading to GMS.
  • Process journal voucher entries and reconcile various funds and accounts.
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting of financial activities.
  • Reconcile, reimburse, and provide petty cash advances and reimbursements.
  • Assist in the management of various administrative functions, such as: payroll, office operations, records management and coordinate with the Budget Analyst updating CompStat Reports and other associated information.
  • Work effectively with the public and city staff to address inquiries for information.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Work and navigate proficiently with a variety of computer software programs, such as, Microsoft: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to perform backup responsibilities to the Payroll Coordinator position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Knowledge of general budget concepts as they relate to municipal government.
  • Knowledge of modern office methods and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting and auditing procedures.
  • Knowledge (extensive) of Excel spreadsheet applications.
  • Skill in using a personal computer and a variety of software programs including MS Office.
  • Skill in communication with other city employees and the public through effective oral and written
  • Ability to examine, verify and maintain accounts and standard reports.
  • Ability to create spreadsheets and charts from raw data.
  • Ability to work independently in the absence of specific instructions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with fellow employees and the public.
  • Ability to generate and conceive new and innovative ideas or solutions to problems.

Qualifying Education and Experience

  • Some college with coursework in Business Administration, Accounting, or other related field.
  • Two (2) years experience in administrative support capacity.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • CJIS Certification background check

Arlington Police Department General Orders prohibit employees from having tattoos on any part of the hands (below the cuff of a long-sleeve shirt), neck, face, head, eyelids, mouth, and ears, with the following exceptions:

  • Tattoo of one wedding band on the left-hand ring finger.
  • Professional style permanent facial make-up on the eyebrows, eyeline, cheeks, and lips.
