Audit Management
- Manages in- country audit portfolio and sets the audit strategy and approach of the in-country consumer banking business of OCBC Banking Group and oversees the in-country audit team :
- Formulate an annual audit plan for the country functional audit portfolio in consultation with Group Functional Head (GFH) , Country Head (CH) and Group Portfolio Lead s (GPL) of Consumer Banking Audit (CBA) and Global Consumer & Private Banking Lending Audit (CPL) , using an appropriate risk-based audit methodology and including the key risks or control concerns and emerging requirements associated with the corporate strategy, business model and activities, and operating environment, in cooperation with other relevant audit functions of OCBC Group Audit (GA).
- Monitoring the execution of the country audit plan, manage it within budget, and report the status and results of executing the audit plan.
- Managing the quality of audit execution in conformance with GA’s audit methodology and quality assurance program and put in place measures to address any gaps identified through quality assurance review.
- Adjusting the audit plan in consultation with GFH, CH and Group Portfolio Leads of CBA or CPL to address any emerging risks and concerns, regulatory developments or shifts in the Banking Group’s corporate strategy.
- Provides advisory service for key business initiatives and projects, where the objective is to add value and improve the governance, risk management and control processes of the Banking Group without GA assuming management responsibility.
- Assists in or conduct investigations, where necessary, into alleged staff misconduct or suspected internal frauds that may arise from whistle-blowing or when referred by Senior Management.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of the audit methodology , standards and practices that are relevant to the Banking Group, where required .
- Where necessary, engages external service provider on co-sourcing of internal audit activities to complement audit resources and build audit knowledge and skillsets, and oversee the co-sourcing engagement.
Stakeholder Management
Assist s GFH, CH and the wider GA Leadership Team in the
- Engagement of Senior Management on the proposed annual in-country audit plan, for consolidation into the Group-wide audit plan.
- Preparation of the financial budget and socialisation of the audit cost allocation with key stakeholders.
- Periodic engagement with in-country Senior Management to ( i ) keep abreast of business developments, organisational changes and key initiatives, and (ii) provide updates on key risk themes and significant audit issues, emerging risks, culture or conduct concerns.
- Periodic stakeholder reporting to the in-country Audit Committee to report ( i ) the realisation of the audit plan and GA’s key performance indicators, and (ii) key risk themes and any significant issues related to the governance, risk management and internal control processes of the Banking Group, as well as (iii) business improvement opportunities.
- Periodic engagement with relevant regulators on GA’s organisation, audit plan, key audit themes and any significant concerns, and provision of information request, where applicable.
- Periodic engagement with external auditors to synergise audit coverage.
Team Management
- Lead, motivate and manage the in-country audit teams, to build their knowledge, skills and experience, and fulfil the key attributes of internal audit profession, i.e. , professional ethics, professional competence, due professional care, independence and objectivity.
- Lead by example by modelling the Bank’s desired behaviours in line with the Bank’s LIFRR values and GA Leadership Pact.
- Cultivate a conducive environment that allows staff to learn and grow, and for the team to have a safe environment for open exchange and constructive feedback.
- Set measurable key performance indicators for the audit team in alignment with Functional and GA Divisional key performance indicators.
- Holds a professional qualification (e.g., CPA/ACCA/CA/CIA/CB/PCC) and/or a bachelor degree.
- At least 1 5 years of audit, credit or business experience in Consumer Banking and/or Consumer Lending, with proven track record in managerial role.
- Good knowledge of internal audit operations, financial products and regulatory requirements , and familiarity with risk management frameworks .
- Good audit skills and understanding of key risks and controls relating to wealth management, loans operations , secured/unsecured lending activities, and AML/CFT .
- Strong leadership, organisational and communication, and people management skill.
- Strong analytical and managerial skills, and the ability to perform detailed/technical work without losing sight of ‘big picture’ issues and to maintain balanced risk-reward perspectives.
- Ability to interact with senior management, external stakeholders and regulators.
- Good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- High level of initiative, drive, proactiveness, agility and ability to work under pressure.
- Data analytics skills and experience in use of data analytics, Generative AI and ML tools, would be an advantage.
- Able to travel (10%).
