About The Role

As a Multimedia Journalist, you'll research, report, shoot, write, and deliver compelling stories across multiple platforms, helping audiences stay informed about the issues that matter most.
You'll be part of a fast-paced newsroom where curiosity, creativity, and accuracy drive great storytelling. This role offers the opportunity to develop impactful content for broadcast, digital, and social platforms while building strong connections throughout the Coastal Bend community. WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Develop story ideas by evaluating news leads, tips, and community developments
- Research, interview, observe, and verify information to produce accurate and balanced reports
- Write engaging stories that meet broadcast, digital, and AP style standards
- Capture high-quality video and still photography to support news coverage
- Edit video content for television, digital, and social media platforms
- Deliver live reports from the field and provide updates during breaking news situations
- Appear on-air for interviews, narration, and other news presentations
- Collaborate closely with photographers, producers, and newsroom colleagues to create compelling content
- Assist producers with newscast preparation and story development
- Support digital teams by creating and publishing multimedia content across online platforms
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered
- Three or more years of experience in a journalism, reporting, or related role preferred
- Valid driver's license, a good driving record, and the ability to provide proof of insurance that meets company requirements
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Strong broadcast writing and AP style writing skills
- Proficiency with newsroom computer systems and digital publishing platforms
- Experience with videography and non-linear editing preferred
- Knowledge of broadcast-quality camera equipment
- Ability to edit video using Final Cut Pro or similar editing systems
- Strong news judgment, curiosity, and attention to detail
- Self-motivation and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven newsroom environment
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and breaking news coverage
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
